Please take a moment to congratulate Kieran Watson on receiving the Missouri 100 Scholars Award in Columbia, MO. This is a very prestigious award from the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Selection for this award was based on an “academic decathlon” which takes into account ACT/SAT scores, GPA, completion of advanced placement classes, community involvement, and school leadership involvement. Congratulations, Kieran.

Also, a shout out goes to Ms. Danika Novak, UHS English Teacher, who along with Kieran's parents, was present upon accepting this award. #unionrxi

Each year during the month of July the Franklin County Back to School Fair organization, in partnership with Jefferson/Franklin Community Action (JFCAC), hosts a school fair for the under resourced families in Franklin County. At the fair, kids receive much needed school supplies, clothing, haircuts, vision screening, dental screening, a meal and information from organizations regarding different programs available to their family, all FREE. Over 1300 children participated in the fair in 2016 which resulted in many smiling faces! We would like to be prepared for 1800 kids in 2017.

For more information about the event and a registration form, please see the attached letter and flyer below.

Starting February 27. Union Middle School will be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Pennies for patients program, a service-learning program that gives students the unique experience of working together of working together to help raise awareness and funds in honor of thousands of children and adults fighting against blood cancer.  This project is being sponsored by the UMS NJHS. We are asking that everyone (students, faculty, parent and family members, alumni, etc) from Union School District join in this effort to raising awareness and collecting funds to benefit the mission of LLS: to find a cure for blood cancers.

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 9 minutes someone loses their battle.  Thanks to  the support of people like you, doctors are getting closer to finding a cure everyday!  In 1960’s the 5 year survival rate for children under the age of 20 with Leukemia went from 3% to nearly 90% today! You support is critical in helping find a cure.

To learn more about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the work they are doing to find a cure for blood cancers or to make a donation go to the link below.
